What and Why FiReP®
FiReP® FRP bars have double the strength of normal steel,
but the weight of only a quarter of steel.
They are highly corrosion resistant and can be manufactured in just about any shape or form.
FiReP® profiles are produced in a pultrusion process using high-quality glass fiber,
having a high fiber content of about 80%.
The glass fibers are embedded in either Polyester- or Vinylester- or Epoxy resin matrix.
This gives the rod a high tensile strength, especially in the longitudinal direction.
The resin matrix fixes and protects the glass fibers.
The surface of FiReP® rods or tubes is produced in the primary process
with a wave-shaped thread profile.
The additional coating is a protection against mechanical and chemical damage.
FiReP® profiles are continuous highly accurate thread profiles and
can obtain high bonding properties with grouting materials and also concrete.
Advantages of FiReP®
Durability
FiReP® FRP products are provided with high durability. The rods are resistant against acid attacks (e.g. rock waters) as well as against alkaline attacks (e.g. high alkaline concrete).
High corrosion resistance
The annual cost of repair and maintenance of the European infrastructure, as a result of problems associated with corrosion, is around 30 Billion EURO and the repair costs can be twice as high as the original ones. corrosion in steel rebars leads directly to damage of the concrete itself, significantly reducing the quality of life in the built environment. (CurvedNFR-EUREKA -2002 ). And furthermore, we must remember that steel corrosion can because of an increase in CO2 Emissions and will influence the natural environment.
FiReP® FRP rods can offer environment-friendly solutions and propose significant repair and maintenance cost reduction. Due to its high corrosion resistance, in tunneling application FiReP® -Rock bolt can also apply as a permanent rock bolts system.
Cuttability
The cuttability of FiReP® FRP rods can offer suitable performance for applications in mining and tunneling. The cuttability protects machinery and equipment and prevents damage to machinery while drifting and enlarging tunnels.
All-Thread Rebar
Due to its continuous thread profile, FiReP® FRP rods can be trimmed if needed. The bolt has a high ultimate load and due to its profile it offers a maximum bondage with all grouting material and also concrete. Its accurate thread profile has a great possibility to connect with coupler in any length and also can take high ultimate load.
High tensile strength
FiReP® has double the strength of normal steel, but the weight is only a quarter of steel. FiReP® profiles are produced in a pultrusion process using high-quality glass fibers, having a high fiber content of about 80%. The glass fibers are embedded in either Polyester- or Vinyl ester- or Epoxy resin matrix. This gives the rod a high tensile strength, especially in the longitudinal direction. The resin matrix fixes and protects the glass fibers. For rock bolts, an immediate load-bearing capacity can be developed with fast resin capsules due to the high tensile strength of the bolt.
Flexibility
Because we're experienced, reliable, and focused on results, we've had the privilege of working with a host of fantastic clients.
Low weight, Easy handling
Due to the low density of glass and resin, FiReP® products show a density, which reaches just 30% of the density of steel. The low weight facilitates handling, minimizes the transportation weight and can reduce dead loads of structures.
Anti-static coating (optionally)
For application in tunneling and mining an antistatic coating can be applied as an option to avoid any sparks in explosive environment.
Anti-magnetic
Reinforcement of slabs beams and columns are the basic cases of application and here the special reinforcement of concrete plates on an airfield – especially in front of a hangar is of interest. Due to the necessity of a nonmagnetic section – called swing place – a position for planes to adjust the electronic equipment –FiReP® -FRP reinforcement and all bent parts and all connectors, spacers, etc must be free vom steel completely without any exception.
High thermal isolation
The FiReP® FRP material has a significantly lower thermal conductivity than steel, which avoids thermal bridges or heat transfer and has a good thermal insulation e.g. for balcony connections.
No electrical conductivity
FiReP® FRP material is electric isolating, so no electric flow will take place in the material.
Wide range of various shapes
FiReP® Rebar product range offers many different shapes of 2D and 3D elements, and all shapes known from steel reinforcement can be produced.
High End Loading
The special FiReP® thread profile and an optimized matching between bolt thread and nut thread ensure high-end loads that can almost reach the level of steel anchor systems.
UV protection
FRP products can be treated with special UV protection (existent for Sunthread, optionally for all other products), so the resin will not degrade when exposed to sunlight.
